South African medical technology business, Dynamic Body Technology, will be hosting an evening workshop for healthcare practitioners to help them integrate technology into their medical practices for improved patient and business outcomes.

The workshop will take place on the evening of 13 September 2018 at the Wits University eZone- Khanya Buiding, East Block, Wits Education Campus and is open to all healthcare professionals as well as current Wits students.

According to Dynamic Body Technology CEO, Marc Ashton, the 2.5 hour workshop will bring together experts in the fields of technology, digital media and legal ethics to guide medical practitioners around how to turn technology into a competitive advantage for their practices. Speakers include constitutional and media law expert, Avani Singh; influencer marketing advisor, Menzi Dladla; Head of the Wits eZone, Paula Barnard; Dynamic Body Technology CTO, Stephen Meyerowitz; and Marc Ashton who previously ran JSe-listed media group Moneyweb.

“In Deloitte’s 2016 Survey of US Physicians, more than 70% of survey respondents indicated that Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems provide useful analytics and can help to develop a more holistic patient care model. But at the same time 75% of the physicians surveyed say EHRs increase practice costs and reduce their productivity,” said Ashton.

“This is the trade-off that medical professionals struggle with: how do they utilise tools – including social media – to build their practices without negatively impacting their productivity?” continued Ashton.

With this in mind, the workshop will provide an overview of the South African health tech environment looking at some of the start-ups grabbing headlines, securing investment and some of the initiatives available for entrepreneurs to access funding. The workshop will then also demonstrate how social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter can generate new business, as well as the value of tools such as podcasts and Google Reviews.

The workshop will also cover social media and medical practice ethics; accessing new media to raise professional profile; and using movement analysis sensors to enhance patient diagnosis or treatment outcomes. This last point will focus on the Bluetooth Range of Motion (ROM) and movement tool that was developed by Dynamic Body Technology, the 3D Joint Rom system, which enables physiotherapists to measure and record their patient’s range in 3D.

“The team from Dynamic Body Technology believes that therapists can do better business by implementing the right tools for their practice. So our workshop will bring together legal, medical, media and technology professionals to help medical practices better integrate digital platforms into their workflows,” concluded Ashton.
