The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Faculty of Health Sciences, together with Digital Health (Pty) Ltd, are hosting the first South African Digital Health Conference at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on 2 October 2018.
The comprehensive one-day programme will address a range of issues and challenges currently facing the digital health and broader healthcare industry.
The conference will host several stakeholders across the healthcare landscape from both the private and public sector that are redefining and disrupting the healthcare landscape.
Attending delegates will have the opportunity to engage with other healthcare leaders and speakers, which will be highly beneficial in making informed strategic and operational decisions over the coming year.
The invited speakers will partake in various panel discussions, ranging from emerging trends and opportunities to the challenges in bringing digital health solutions to patients.
“In dealing with healthcare, we believe in an integrated value-driven healthcare system that places the focus on the needs of the patient. This is a realistic and achievable vision in which all industry role players work together in a patient centric approach,” said Discovery Health Deputy CEO and invited speaker, Dr Ryan Noach.
“Discovery Health has developed digital technologies and programmes, such as HealthID, to support this approach which enable seamless flow of information between health professionals throughout the healthcare system,” continued Dr Noach.
The latest trends and information sharing are not the only expected outcome of the conference; in addition the conference will create a platform for academic research posters to be presented on the mHealth fields from various health science university students.
During the conference sponsors and exhibitors will be given space to demonstrate their platforms and digital health solutions to a wide audience consisting of private sector providers, administrators, medical schemes and government.
“We have seen the massive impact that Fintech has had in Africa, with numerous start-up success stories emerging over the last decade. Now is the time for health tech, which is poised to transform consumer healthcare environments and impact many millions of lives on the continent in the coming years,” said RecoMed CEO and invited speaker, Sheraan Amod.
The conference will be followed by a stakeholder forum focusing on the regulation and best practice around telemedicine. Invited participants will collaborate on the telemedicine position statement which will be drafted by key stakeholders for submission to council. More information about this roundtable will be released closer to the event.
